Join the Troop

Make it official.

Complete your Scout's BSA registration and arrange payment of troop dues. The online registration process only takes a few minutes.

Use the official Boy Scouts of America registration system to enroll your Scout with Troop 990.

Register with the Troop.

Create your family website account through Membership Toolkit, complete Troop 990 registration, and pay annual troop dues.

For Parents

Troop 990 is volunteer-led. Whether you attend an occasional campout or serve in a formal leadership role, your help matters.

Get Ready

Start with the basics.

Your Scout does not need every possible piece of equipment on day one. Begin with the essentials and build a gear collection over time.

Uniform

Look like a Scout.

  • Scouts BSA field uniform, or Class A
  • Scouts BSA Handbook
  • Troop 990 numerals and required patches
  • Troop 990 Class B activity shirt
  • Neckerchief, slide, and shoulder loops

First Campout

Pack what matters.

  • Sleeping bag and sleeping pad
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Personal toiletries
  • A positive attitude

New to camping? That is completely fine. Many Scouts join with little or no outdoor experience. Patrol leaders and adult volunteers will help your Scout learn everything they need.

Good to know.

Does my Scout need camping experience?

No. Scouts learn outdoor skills gradually through meetings, patrol activities, and campouts.

Do we need to buy all the gear immediately?

No. Start with the basic personal items needed for a regular campout. Leaders can help with what to buy or borrow.

Can parents attend campouts?

Yes. Adults attending overnight activities must meet the troop's current training, registration, and medical-form requirements.
